Catheter-based treatment for acute Pulmonary Embolism
What is Pulmonary Embolism
Sub chronic blood clots that break loose and travel into the lungs.
Pulmonary Embolism (PE) is the 3rd leading cause of Cardiovascular related death and the number one cause of preventable hospital death.
Removing clot burden quickly improves acute right heart strain (RV/LV) resulting in improved short- and long-term outcomes
Current Challenges
Large catheter diameters offer efficient aspiration, but their size challenges the operators
Limited flexibility navigation difficulties
Currently available mechanical removal devices are usually inefficient for well adhered thrombus that cannot be aspirated
Tradeoff: Stiffness (for effective grip/removal) Vs. flexibility (atraumatic to vessels)
ALTHEA MEDICAL THROMBECTOMY SOLUTION
Quick and efficient removal of various clot types
- Ultra-flexible aspiration tube
- Mechanical removal system to assist in removal of challenging clots
